burkhalter sumi was founded by Marianne Burkhalter and Christian Sumi in 1984. Beside architectural projects, both were engaged in teaching and several research and exhibition projects.
burkhalter sumi acquired an international reputation by innovative wooden constructions, distinctive use of polychrome colors, new housing typologies, transformations of existing structures and a number of new hotel projects.
